5 Tips for Early Preparation

Earlier is better when it comes to working on your taxes. The IRS encourages everyone to get a head start on tax preparation and here at Rene Sarkhosh CPA Accounting we actually encourage our clients to get started before the year ends.

There are five easy ways to get a good jump on your taxes long before the April 15 deadline rolls around:

1. Stay in Contact. Keep us informed of the major changes that have or will happen in your life.

2. Gather your records in advance. Make sure you have all the records you need, including W-2s and 1099s.

3. Use Worksheets. Each year, we provide our individual clients with organizers to help them gather their tax documents. In addition to the organizers, we also have other worksheets to help claim expenses, home-office deductions or auto deductions.

4. Send Information Early. Our firm has deadlines for turning in information for tax preparation. Make sure you know when these deadlines are so your return is in our Queue to be worked on.

5. Send Information in Complete Packages. To keep both the cost down as well as speed up the preparation of your tax return, make sure to always send requested information in one complete package, rather than in multiple piecemeal fashions.
